Ed Miliband is heading up a call for the government to throw as much effort into stopping climate change as was deployed in defeating the Nazis, saying that the UK needs to be put on a ‘war footing’ to end climate appeasement, if carbon emissions are to be cut to levels that research proves are required to avert disaster. He talks about his – and others’ – urgent work around climate change and suggests what needs to be done at local as well as national level to protect the planet for future generations.
