Stella Duffy is the award-winning writer of twelve novels, over forty short stories, and eight plays. She also acts, performs live and directs. Her latest book, Theodora: Actress, Empress, Whore, launches in paperback the week of the festival and novelises the life of Theodora of Constantinople, who rose from nothing to become the most powerful woman in the history of Byzantine Rome. Theodora is an extraordinary imaginative achievement from one of our finest writers. Elif Shafak is the most widely-read female writer in Turkey and critically acclaimed as one of the most distinctive voices in contemporary literature both in Turkish and English. Her novels include The Bastard of Istanbul which was long-listed for the Orange Prize, and The Forty Rules of Love. Stella and Elif will share their experiences and their fascinating takes on contemporary Istanbul and historical Constantinople.
